Blueberry, which has rapidly spread in production in Turkey in recent years and is known as a 'super fruit' with its high antioxidant value, has gained strong momentum both in the domestic market and in exports by expanding its production areas through potted and soilless farming methods. With a production of 6,150 tons and exports worth $4.188 million last year, a new export record is expected as the harvest season begins.

Blueberry, whose production has rapidly expanded in Turkey in recent years, has gained strong momentum both in the domestic market and in exports.

GROWN IN POTS AND WITH SOILLESS FARMING METHODS

The product, called 'super fruit' due to its high antioxidant content, is expanding its production areas, especially by being grown in pots and with soilless farming methods.

Last year, 6,150 tons of production were realized across Turkey, and approximately 4 million 188 thousand dollars of exports were made. With the start of the harvest season this year, an increase in export figures is also expected.

WESTERN MEDITERRANEAN IS THE EXPORT CENTER

The Western Mediterranean region, especially Antalya, has become an important center for Turkey's blueberry exports. It is stated that exports from the region reach approximately 80 percent of Turkey's total. According to 2025 data, there has been a significant increase in exports both in terms of quantity and revenue.

14 COUNTRIES IN LINE

According to data from the Western Mediterranean Exporters' Association (BAİB), blueberry exports have increased significantly compared to last year, while the number of countries to which the product is shipped has risen to 14. The UK, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were among the largest buyer markets. It was notable that exports to Saudi Arabia, which were non-existent in previous years, reached 500 thousand dollars this year.

A STRONG EXPORT ITEM

Industry representatives state that production areas have expanded thanks to increasing demand, and that blueberry has become a strong export item among Turkey's new agricultural products.

ITS SHARE WILL INCREASE FURTHER

Producers in the Serik district of Antalya, who cultivate on a 40-decare area, have also started the harvest season. Producers state that they send products both to the domestic market and to countries such as the Netherlands, Germany, and Russia, emphasizing that blueberry has become a high-value-added product.

According to experts, with the increasing consumption trend and the opening of new markets, the share of blueberry in Turkey's agricultural exports is expected to increase further in the coming years.
