4 Killed As Small Plane Crashes Into Mississippi Home

At least four people were killed when a small plane crashed into a home in Hattiesburg, Mississippi late Tuesday, authorities said on Wednesday.

"We can confirm, in total there are four fatalities," Hattiesburg Police Department said in a Facebook update, without mentioning any injuries.

Police responded to a call that the small civilian plane crashed into a house on Annie Christie Drive around 11.20 p.m. on Tuesday (0420 GMT), Ryan Moore, a public information officer from Hattiesburg Police Department, told reporters.

While Edwards Street is back open to traffic, Annie Christie Drive is closed entirely from Evans Street down to Collins Street.

"If you find any debris or wreckage in your yard or property that you believe is connected to the crash, do not touch or remove it," the department urged the citizens.

The cause of the crash remains unclear.

US Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been contacted to investigate the crash and they are en route to the scene. -
