Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that a fourth wave operation was carried out in the Ahbap investigation. Speaking about the operation in which 13 people, including Hüseyin Başaran, the owner of Başaran Holding, were detained, Gürlek said, 'Within the scope of the investigation, housing and container purchases, suspicious property transfers, checks issued by the association, and financial and commercial relations are being examined in all aspects.'
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that the fourth wave of operations was carried out in the investigation into the "Ahbaplar Criminal Organization" and 13 people were detained. Gürlek also shared current data on the Gülistan Doku case and illegal betting operations with the public.
"DETERMINED FIGHT AGAINST THOSE WHO ABUSE DONATIONS AND ILLEGAL NETWORKS"
Minister Gürlek, stating that they work under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and in full coordination with the Ministry of Interior, emphasized that they are conducting an uncompromising fight against structures that abuse the goodwill of citizens, those who try to obscure unsolved incidents, and illegal betting networks targeting young people.
In simultaneous operations carried out in three separate centers under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices of Istanbul, Erzurum, and Mersin, legal proceedings were initiated against a total of 112 suspects.
ALL MAIL AND COMMERCIAL RELATIONS OF AHBAP BEING INVESTIGATED
The details of the operations carried out in line with Minister Gürlek's statements were reflected in the table as follows:
"In the 4th wave operation of the 'Ahbaplar Criminal Organization' investigation coordinated by our Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 13 suspects were caught and taken into custody by our Istanbul Provincial Police Department. Within the scope of the investigation, housing and container purchases, suspicious real estate transfers, checks issued by the association, and financial and commercial relations are being examined in all aspects.
Within the scope of the Gülistan Doku investigation, a simultaneous operation was organized against 19 suspects in 15 provinces by our Erzurum Provincial Gendarmerie Command, under the coordination of our Erzurum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. During the investigation, as suspicions arose regarding the interference of some law enforcement officers with evidence, searches were conducted at 21 addresses, and 18 suspects were detained.
In two separate investigations conducted under the coordination of our Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding illegal betting and laundering of proceeds from crime, detention decisions were made for 80 suspects. In the bank, crypto asset, and payment institution accounts belonging to the suspects, a transaction volume of approximately 20 billion Turkish lira was identified.
On this occasion, I would like to thank our Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices of Istanbul, Erzurum, and Mersin; our Istanbul and Mersin Provincial Police Departments; our Erzurum and Mersin Provincial Gendarmerie Commands; and all public officials involved in the operations, who conduct investigations meticulously.
Our state is holding accountable the donations entrusted by our citizens to be delivered to those in need, lifting the veil over unsolved and dark incidents even years later, and not leaving the future of our young people at the mercy of illegal betting and criminal organizations.
