The Solidarity Tent and Scholasticide Exhibition, set up at the 8th Ethnosport Culture Festival, drew attention to humanitarian tragedies in the geography of the heart, particularly in Gaza. In areas open to visitors for four days, the spirit of sharing, compassion, and solidarity is kept alive through exhibitions, awareness activities, traditional workshops, and cultural events.
The 8th Ethnosport Culture Festival, organized by the World Ethnosport Federation at Istanbul Atatürk Airport, hosts a meaningful space that focuses not only on traditional sports and ancient cultures but also on human solidarity. Within the festival, the Solidarity Tent and Scholasticide Exhibition draw attention to the humanitarian tragedies in oppressed regions, especially Gaza. The tent, prepared with talks, workshops, cultural activities, and social awareness initiatives, along with the exhibition revealing the atrocities in Palestine, highlights the festival's aspect of "unity, sharing, and spreading goodness."
NGOS GATHER UNDER THE SAME TENT
In the Solidarity Tent at the festival area, various non-governmental organizations participated. Each organization made introductions to visitors based on its field of activity and carried out activities that strengthened social responsibility awareness. The Solidarity Tent served not only as a promotional area but also became one of the centers forming the festival's conscientious memory through awareness activities addressing children, youth, and families. Throughout the festival, aid activities, cultural studies, traditional workshops, and awareness events were held in the area.
STRONG AWARENESS FOR GAZA
Gaza was one of the main agendas of the activities carried out in the tent. In events prepared to draw attention to humanitarian tragedies in oppressed regions, especially Gaza, visitors were reminded of the importance of sharing, helping, and defending human dignity. The Gaza-themed exhibition, face painting activity, artistic events, and games attracted intense interest from participants in the tent. Additionally, in the "Mail the Oppression" corner, messages written by children for Palestine warmed hearts.
"ONE HEART FOR PALESTINE"
In the "Scholasticide" exhibition set up within the festival, the systematic destruction carried out by Israel on Gaza's education system, academic infrastructure, and intellectual accumulation was revealed. In the exhibition established with the slogan "One Heart for Palestine," citizens had the opportunity to access detailed information about the great humanitarian and academic drama in Gaza.
A BILLION-DOLLAR BALANCE SHEET
Education in Gaza had to be interrupted for a total of 911 days. During this process, 19,260 students and 4,160 preschool-aged children lost their lives. While 780 teachers and education staff who upheld educational institutions were killed, 625,000 students were completely deprived of their most basic right to education. In attacks aimed at destroying the academic memory of the region, 12 universities were bombed and razed to the ground along with their main campuses. The complete collapse of the education infrastructure brought a massive financial burden. To immediately resume education in Gaza, an urgent need of $86 million is required. It is stated that the total budget needed to fully compensate for the severe destruction and losses of the last 3 years amounts to $2.6 billion.
