A 13-year-old child died of AIDS in Izmir.

Sad news came from İzmir. A 13-year-old girl, hospitalized with a suspicion of osteoporosis, was found to be HIV positive (AIDS). Despite all interventions in the hospital, the child could not be saved.

TRANSMITTED THROUGH SEXUAL ABUSE

According to the news reported by NTV reporter Melike Şahin, it was learned that the virus was transmitted to the child through sexual abuse.

NEARLY 250 HIV POSITIVE CHILDREN IN TURKEY

In a post regarding the tragic incident, Şahin pointed out a significant increase in HIV positive cases among children, stating, "Currently, there are 100 HIV positive children being monitored at Istanbul Medical Faculty. Of these children, 20 contracted the virus through sexual transmission. One is a case of abuse. Currently, there are nearly 250 known and diagnosed HIV positive children in Turkey."
