The file of Arif Yılmaz, who was shot and killed in 2013 in the Çarşamba district of Samsun, was re-examined through the work of the Department of Investigation of Unsolved Crimes and JASAT. While the communication data of 28 people were compared, witnesses stated that the suspect Murat Atasoy told the people he argued with, 'Your end will be like Arif's.' Atasoy and Turan Zengin, who denied the accusations, were arrested.
In the Çarşamba district of Samsun, it has emerged that Murat Atasoy, one of the 2 murder suspects in the killing of Arif Yılmaz (50), who was murdered 13 years ago, said to people with whom he occasionally argued and fought in the neighborhood in the following years, "You will end up like Arif."
CASE REOPENED AFTER 13 YEARS
The case regarding the discovery of Arif Yılmaz dead, shot in the head, leg and chest, in Beyyenice Neighborhood of Çarşamba district on June 1, 2013, was re-examined. Within the scope of the work carried out under the coordination of the Department of Investigation of Unsolved Crimes within the General Directorate of Criminal Affairs of the Ministry of Justice, the Çarşamba Crime Investigation Team (JASAT) of the Samsun Provincial Gendarmerie Command, and the Çarşamba Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the incident was re-examined in all its aspects. Taking advantage of developing technological possibilities, existing evidence, witness statements and HTS records were re-analyzed. Communication data of 28 people, including those previously decided to have no grounds for prosecution, were compared.
WITNESS STATEMENTS INCREASED SUSPICION
In some witness statements taken, it was stated that Murat Atasoy said to some people with whom he occasionally argued and fought in the neighborhood in the years after the murder, "You will end up like Arif," and that as suspicions increased, the investigation was deepened in this way. As a result of technical analyses and new witness statements, the Prosecutor's Office detained Turan Zengin and Murat Atasoy, who were assessed to be linked to the incident.
The 2 suspects, who denied the charges against them, were arrested by the magistrate before whom they were brought at the courthouse after their procedures at the gendarmerie. Meanwhile, it was reported that the suspects were from the same neighborhood. The place where Arif Yılmaz's lifeless body was found and Beyyenice Neighborhood were filmed with a drone.

Nefise Yılmaz, sister of Arif Yılmaz, who spoke to DHA, said, "We sent him from home to the field with the animals at 10:15. When he did not come home around 17:00, I got worried. We had a field by the riverbank. I told my uncle that Arif had not come home. My uncle also went after him to look for him. We could not find him in the field. All the villagers went to search. They searched everywhere in the field. The ones who found him were S.Y. and Y.G. Then we received news that he had been found. May God be pleased with everyone. I thank our President, our state, Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, our gendarmerie, our prosecutor and our commanders very much. God showed this to me. It made my family happy. What was the reason for killing my brother? Arif was a very good person. Everyone has their own livelihood. He never looked at anyone with an evil eye. He helped everyone."
