A publication ban has been imposed regarding the incident in which a suspect committed suicide after killing two women in two different districts in Istanbul.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office requested a publication ban from the Istanbul 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace by writing a letter regarding the investigation it initiated into the incident where S.Ç. committed suicide by jumping from the Edirnekapı walls in Fatih after killing A.H. at his home in Eyüpsultan and I.U. at the walls. In the prosecutor's request letter, it was stated that the publications in the media posed a risk of disrupting public health, morality, and public order. INTERNET ACCESS WILL BE RESTRICTEDIn the letter requesting a publication ban until the investigation is completed, it was also requested that access to news related to the matter on the internet be blocked in order to prevent the commission of crimes and to protect public order and general health. The court, evaluating the request, decided to impose a publication ban until the investigation is completed, to remove the content of the news related to the matter from the internet, and to impose a restriction on access. The court ruled that the decision should be sent to the Information Technologies and Communications Authority and implemented within a maximum of 4 hours.
