Eighteen people lost their lives as a result of a rubber boat carrying migrants sinking off the coast of the island of Crete.
It has been reported that 18 people lost their lives due to the sinking of a boat carrying migrants off the coast of Crete. According to news from the Greek press, a rubber boat carrying migrants sank approximately 26 nautical miles south of Crete. A commercial ship, reportedly flying the Turkish flag, passing through the area noticed the semi-submerged rubber boat and informed the Greek Coast Guard of the situation.
BODIES TAKEN TO HOSPITAL FOR AUTOPSY
Coast guard teams rescued 2 people from the boat, while the bodies of 18 others were recovered. The rescued migrants were taken to the town of Ierapetra in Crete for registration and health checks. The bodies of the deceased migrants were taken to the hospital for autopsy.
