The Iraqi government condemned the Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The Military Spokesman for the Iraqi Prime Minister, Sabah al-Numan, stated that the attack directly threatened regional security and stability and called for the immediate cessation of military activities. 12 people were killed and 309 people were injured in the attack.
Iraq reacted to the attack targeting King Khalid International Airport that caused loss of life. The Baghdad administration emphasized that civilians and civilian facilities should not be targeted.
“DIRECTLY THREATENS REGIONAL SECURITY”
Iraqi Prime Minister’s Military Spokesperson Sabah al-Numan said in a written statement that the attack directly threatens regional security and stability. In the statement, military escalations targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure were condemned.
In the statement, which noted that such actions deepen disputes and harm the peace environment in the region, Iraq’s stance was clearly set out.
CALL TO STOP MILITARY ACTIVITIES
Numan called for an immediate and comprehensive halt to military activities. Noting that the civilian population must be protected from conflicts and civilian facilities must not be targeted, Numan stressed that Iraq supports dialogue and mutual understanding rather than military or violent methods.
The statement also stated that deep-rooted common interests among regional countries should be taken into account, maritime and air transport and freedom of transit in the region should be ensured, and economic development goals should be prioritized.
12 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE ATTACK
Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) had announced that 12 people lost their lives and 309 were injured in the attack targeting the airport. It was reported that the injured were placed under treatment in hospitals, and that some of them were in critical condition.
