The Presidential Cabinet Meeting has concluded. Following the meeting, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements in front of the cameras.
In his speech, Erdoğan devoted significant attention to Israel's attacks in Gaza and Lebanon. Addressing the United Nations (UN), President Erdoğan stated that the UN Security Council (UNSC) must take action.
"NEARLY 1 MILLION LEBANESE CIVILI DISPLACED FROM THEIR HOMES"
Erdoğan said: "While we were in New York, Israel intensified its attacks on Lebanon. More than 1,000 Lebanese, including many children, lost their lives. I clearly stated during my meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Mr. Mikati that Turkey's strong support is with them. 30 tons of humanitarian aid reached Beirut on Wednesday. We will continue our aid as long as security conditions allow. The needs of our Lebanese brothers are increasing exponentially. Already, nearly 1 million Lebanese civilians have been displaced from their homes. Our NGOs are on the ground despite difficult conditions, doing everything they can for humanitarian aid.
"THE ESSENTIAL THING IS THE STANCE OF THE ISLAMIC WORLD"
We have also accelerated diplomatic contacts. Our Foreign Minister and the head of MIT have been involved. The essential thing in this process is the stance of the Islamic world. The biggest response to the oppression in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon should come from Islamic countries. We need to lead the world in extending a hand to the oppressed. If we do not support our brothers, we cannot expect others to help. No economic, commercial, or political steps are being taken to force Israel into a ceasefire. I want to especially express that we are saddened by this inertia.
"THE UN MUST USE FORCE IF NECESSARY"
Today, standing by Palestine and Lebanon means standing by humanity, and supporting the culture of coexistence among different beliefs. Those who support Israel, which sows seeds of enmity for generations, are complicit in this crime. Israel is not only destroying faith in international law but also the reputation of the countries that support it. We will never accept this oppression, this barbarism. We will not bow to the insolence of the Zionist lobby targeting us. Until today, we have not hesitated to raise our voice for justice, and we will never hesitate. The authority to recommend the use of force, as stated in the UN General Assembly's 1950 Resolution for Peace, must be activated swiftly. The UN must use force if necessary.
I invite the Islamic world and all countries with a conscience to unite against this modern barbarism. The danger will grow every day this alliance is not formed. The effects of Israel's attacks will reach those who watch the massacre from the stands. We call on the international community and the Islamic world to take action, regardless of being Muslim, Jewish, or Christian."
