The discovery of rare earth elements in Sivas and gold reserves worth 71.5 million lira in Kangal has created great excitement in the city. Zeki Özdemir, the President of the Sivas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that with the production of these mines, both Sivas and Turkey could transition to a new economic model.
The newly discovered mineral reserves in Sivas have caused excitement in the city. Following the announcement of the rare earth element reserve by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Zeki Özdemir, the President of the Sivas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, made a statement after the announcement of a gold reserve worth 71 billion. President Özdemir said, "I hope that with these minerals, we will transition to another economic model."
Recently frequently discussed and of strategic importance, rare earth elements have also been discovered in Sivas. Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated that there is a rare earth element reserve in Sivas. Minister Bayraktar mentioned that rare earth elements, known as semiconductor materials and used in high-tech applications, will be processed by the state, and that there are reserves in various regions of Malatya as well as Sivas.
"WE ARE HAPPY THAT THESE RESERVES HAVE COME TO THE AGENDA"
After the good news of the reserves that excited the people of Sivas, Zeki Özdemir, the Chairman of the Board of the Sivas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, made statements to the İhlas News Agency. Emphasizing that Sivas is a mining city, President Özdemir said, "Sivas is a very large geography; it is the most important city in Turkey in terms of mineral reserves and diversity. Therefore, rare earth elements are a topic that has been on the world's agenda recently. Rare earth elements are materials used in the production of semiconductor devices. The only thing that modern technology has been dependent on in recent developments is semiconductors. Knowing that rare earth elements used in the production of semiconductors exist in Sivas, in our region, in our city, and that these reserves have come to the agenda makes us very happy," he said.
"ECONOMICALLY..."
Expressing that the reserve will make a significant contribution to the provincial and national economy, President Zeki Özdemir said, "I hope that in the coming days, the emergence of these research and studies in terms of production, their existence, and their entry into production will lead us to transition to another economic model. We believe that the rare earth elements we hope to find in Sivas will also be ready for production in the shortest time possible. The mining issue is not something that will yield results in the short term. I think and hope that during this process, the efficiency of reserve studies and production planning will be carried out. Therefore, I do not think there will be a very short planning, but I believe that these studies will find their place in the medium to long term," he stated.
71.5 MILLION LIRA GOLD RESERVE
Speaking about the 424,000-ounce gold reserve discovered in the Kangal district, in addition to the NTE reserve, Özdemir stated, "They announced that they found a gold reserve in the Kangal district of Sivas. Since it is a company traded on the stock exchange, they had to make official statements through official channels. However, these studies emerge as a result of perhaps 3-5 years of work when we return. I hope this will also find its place with a production planning that will contribute to the Sivas economy. Such findings make us happy as the people of Sivas," he said.
