Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık stated in a statement to AA correspondent that the fiber boat traveling from Ören to Akbük sank for an undetermined reason in the evening hours.
According to initial information, Akbıyık expressed that there were 8 people on the boat, "6 of them reached the rocky area by swimming. We have initiated a search operation for the 2 missing children. In the region, 3 boats belonging to the Coast Guard Command, 1 helicopter, 2 diving teams, 3 diving personnel, 1 UAV, and AFAD teams are conducting search operations. 2 women among the 6 people who reached the rocks were rescued by the teams and taken to a safe area. The other 4 people will also be taken by our teams. We are working to find the 2 missing children." he said.
