After 4 banana milks brought from outside for children were added to the bill by the business on the grounds of a 'ban on bringing products from outside,' teams from the Ministry of Trade took action. During an inspection at the business in Üsküdar Çengelköy, it was determined that products not ordered were charged, and inconsistencies were also found between different price lists. An administrative fine of 51,649 TL was imposed on the business.
An inspection was carried out at a business in Çengelköy, Üsküdar, Istanbul, after 4 banana milks brought from outside for children were added to the bill and charged on the grounds of a "ban on bringing products from outside." As a result of the examination by the Ministry of Trade teams, an administrative fine of 51,649 TL in total was imposed on the business.
4 BANANA MILKS ADDED TO THE BILL
Following a consumer complaint reflected on social media, inspection teams from the Istanbul Provincial Directorate conducted an examination at the business operating in Çengelköy, Üsküdar.
During the inspection, it was determined that 4 banana milks, which were not ordered by the consumer and were not served to the table, were added to the bill and charged, citing the business's "ban on bringing products from outside" practice.
It was determined that this practice violated the provision regarding "goods or services not ordered" in the Price Tag Regulation. Accordingly, an administrative fine of 15,892 TL was imposed on the business.
PRICE DISCREPANCIES IN 9 PRODUCTS
During the inspection, the table menus used in the business were also compared with the price lists at the entrance of the establishment.
The examination revealed price discrepancies between the lists for 9 products. Due to this non-compliance with the legislation, an administrative fine of 35,757 TL was also imposed on the business in this context.
Thus, the business was fined a total of 51,649 TL for the two separate violations identified.
PURCHASE AND SALE INVOICES OF BEVERAGES WILL BE EXAMINED
During the inspection, the business was also asked to submit the purchase and sale invoices for the last 3 months for 2 products offered for sale in the beverage group.
The business was given 7 days to submit the invoices, and it was stated that after the documents were examined, the necessary evaluation would be made by the Ministry of Trade's Board for the Assessment of Unfair Prices.

Deputy Minister of Trade Mahmut Gürcan announced that the necessary inspection was carried out in Çengelköy following the complaint reflected on social media.
Bekir Kaplan, Press and Public Relations Advisor to the Ministry of Trade, also stated in his statement on the subject that an unfair charge would not be allowed even on the milk consumed by a child.
Kaplan, in his statement, said, "Neither our hearts nor our laws would accept an unfair charge even on a child's milk," indicating that the necessary actions were taken.
Kaplan also drew attention to the importance of citizens' applications to CİMER (Presidency's Communication Center), stating that consumer complaints play a significant role in initiating inspection processes.
The Ministry of Trade also reported that inspections will continue decisively within the scope of protecting consumer rights and combating exorbitant prices and unfair commercial practices.
