A historic threat from the Houthis to the U.S.: We will attack without regard for any red lines.

A historical threat has come from the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen. A Houthi council member warned the U.S. not to target Yemen, stating, "We will attack American targets in the Middle East without observing any red lines."

Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of the Houthi Supreme Political Council, made a statement regarding the issue in a video he published on his X account. Council Member Houthi said, "We warn the Americans not to target Yemen; otherwise, we will attack American interests in the Middle East without regard to any red lines."

"WE WILL STRIKE SENSITIVE U.S. TARGETS"

Houthi stated, "Either Israel will stop its attacks on Gaza and Yemen, or we will target sensitive American targets that can 'deliver our message.'

SITUATION IN THE RED SEA

Since October 31, 2023, the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen have been seizing commercial ships they claim are linked to Israeli companies in response to Israel's attacks in Gaza, and they have also attacked some of these ships with drones and missiles.

VOYAGES SUSPENDED

Following the actions of the Houthis, many shipping companies decided to suspend their voyages in the Red Sea. The U.S. announced on December 18, 2023, that a multinational "naval task force" named "Operation Guardian of Prosperity" was formed against Houthi forces with the participation of a group of countries, citing the threat to global maritime trade security. Following attacks by the U.S. and the U.K. on areas under their control in Yemen, the Houthis announced that they would target all ships from these two countries.
