In Kayseri, Melikgazi Municipality has assigned the humanoid robot named MEGA, which has been trained for a month, to duties at the municipality. MEGA, which is planned to direct citizens to relevant departments, is also expected to carry out inspections as a municipal police officer in the future. Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu announced that different robots will also be put into service in the future.
Turkey's first humanoid robot to work in a municipality has started its duty at Melikgazi Municipality. The robot named MEGA will assist citizens and undertake various tasks in different units of Melikgazi Municipality.
MEGA STARTS WORK AT THE MUNICIPALITY
The humanoid robot named MEGA, acquired by Melikgazi Municipality and trained for about a month, will be used in different units of the municipality. Melikgazi Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu introduced both his work in the field of technology and the robotic artificial intelligence assistant MEGA at a meeting held in the municipal council hall.
CAN PERFORM INSPECTIONS AS A MUNICIPAL POLICE OFFICER
Explaining striking details about MEGA's duties, Palancıoğlu stated that the robot will not be limited to just greeting citizens. Palancıoğlu said, "Our latest application is the humanoid robot named 'MEGA'. We will carry out many of our services by training this robot. In the evening hours and on weekends, our artificial intelligence assistant was directing our citizens who called our call center." Stating that the robot will also help citizens who come to the municipality, Palancıoğlu said, "Likewise, it will meet the needs of guests who come during the day, guide them on which unit can solve their business, and can perform inspections as a municipal police officer."
ALSO REVEALED WHICH TEAM IT SUPPORTS
MEGA's abilities were also showcased at the introductory meeting. The humanoid robot, which performed a dance show, also answered football and basketball questions directed at it. In response to the question "Which team do you support?", MEGA answered "Kayserispor" in football, and said it supports Melikgazi Kayseri Basketball in basketball.
