A lawsuit has been filed demanding the termination of the Istanbul Bar Association's administration and the holding of elections.

A lawsuit has been filed against Istanbul Bar Association President İbrahim Kaboğlu and 10 board members to terminate their administration and elect a new board. Additionally, permission for prosecution from the Ministry of Justice has been requested on the charge of "making propaganda for a terrorist organization."

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has filed a lawsuit against Istanbul Bar Association President İbrahim Kaboğlu and 10 board members to terminate their management and elect a new board. Among the board members against whom a lawsuit has been filed are; Rukiye Leyla Süren, Hürrem Sönmez, Ahmet Ergin, Metin İriz, Mehmedali Barış Beşli, Yelda Koçak Urfa, Fırat Epözdemir, Ezgi Şahin Yalvarıcı, Ekrem Bilen Selimoğlu, and Bengisu Kadı Çavdar.

PROSECUTION PERMISSION HAS ALSO BEEN REQUESTED

Additionally, permission for prosecution was requested from the Ministry of Justice on the charge of "making propaganda for a terrorist organization."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

On December 21, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced through the official social media account of the Istanbul Bar Association that an investigation had been initiated on the allegations of "making propaganda for a terrorist organization" and "publicly disseminating misleading information" regarding the glorification of fugitive suspects Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin, who are members of the PKK. As part of the investigation, Istanbul Bar Association President İbrahim Kaboğlu and Board Members had given statements regarding the investigation initiated against them on the grounds of "glorifying fugitive suspects who are members of the terrorist organization PKK."
