An organized crime group that carried out a robbery worth millions of lira by neutralizing the security guards in a cash transport vehicle in Izmir has been dismantled. During searches conducted at the addresses of the arrested suspects, a large portion of the stolen money was seized, and 9 suspects who were referred to the courthouse were arrested.
The organized crime group that carried out a robbery worth millions of liras by neutralizing the security personnel in a cash transport vehicle was dismantled by a police operation.
The incident occurred on January 12 at around 23:15 in the Uzundere neighborhood of the Karabağlar district. According to the information obtained, the cash transport vehicle, which was loading money into an ATM of a bank, was targeted by three masked and armed individuals.
THEY ROBBED THE CASH TRANSPORT VEHICLE
The robbers neutralized the security personnel by force of arms and handcuffed them with plastic ties, stealing the money in the vehicle, the firearms belonging to the personnel, and their mobile phones. The suspects, who fled in the vehicle they used in the incident, disappeared without a trace. Following the incident, the Intelligence and Public Order Branch teams of the Provincial Security Directorate initiated an investigation.
As a result of the technical and physical surveillance conducted, the identities of the members of the organized crime group that carried out the robbery were identified. In simultaneous operations carried out, 9 suspects were captured and taken into custody.
STOLEN MONEY RECOVERED
During the searches conducted at the suspects' homes, workplaces, and vehicles, 13 million 162 thousand 780 TL, 10 thousand 300 Dollars, 6 thousand 540 Euros, and 100 Pounds, believed to have been obtained from the robbery, were seized. In discussions with the authorities, it was determined that only 20 thousand TL of the stolen money was missing. Additionally, the searches revealed the stolen firearm and phones belonging to the security personnel, as well as 5 handguns, 7 magazines, 1 rifle, and a large number of cartridges and shells.
PLANNED 1 MONTH IN ADVANCE
On the other hand, it was revealed that the organization, led by F.A., had planned the robbery approximately 1 month in advance. It was determined that the suspects had attached license plates from other vehicles to the vehicle used in the act to avoid recognition and that they transferred the money to a different vehicle immediately after the incident to cover their tracks.
9 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
The suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, F.A. (28), M.Ş. (30), C.M. (24), M.M. (27), M.O.Ç. (20), A.F.G. (27), M.A. (20), Ş.Ö. (45), and the minor M.E.A. (16), were referred to the judicial authorities. All of the suspects were arrested by the court they were brought before and sent to prison.
