Yalova Governor Hülya Kaya announced via social media that the person accused of harassing female students on the minibus has been detained. The statement said, "On October 7, 2024, the posts made on social media were accepted as a report, and the person who allegedly harassed university female students has been apprehended by our gendarmerie, and legal proceedings have been initiated."

It was claimed that the suspect boarded the KYK dormitory minibus and harassed female students there. Following the spread of these images on social media, it was learned that the student detained by the gendarmerie was undergoing processing.

Meanwhile, following the incident, many students gathered in front of the KYK dormitory in the central district to protest the situation.
