A man who suspected the relationship between his stepbrother and his wife killed both of them in Izmir.

In the Torbalı district of İzmir, around 04:00, an incident occurred in the rural Dirmil neighborhood of Torbalı. Farmer Mehmet Tosun, who was adopted as a child, drank alcohol with his stepbrother İsa Akay, who lives in Aydın and is married with two children. After a while, a dispute broke out between Tosun and Akay. Mehmet Tosun killed his stepbrother İsa Akay and his own wife Hasibe Tosun with a shotgun. The father of three children, Tosun, then called the gendarmerie and reported the incident.

Upon the notification, gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the area and detained Mehmet Tosun. Tosun, who was taken to the District Gendarmerie Command, stated in his initial statement that he killed his wife and stepbrother because he learned that they had a love affair. It was reported that Tosun's procedures at the Gendarmerie are ongoing. The bodies of İsa Akay and Hasibe Tosun were taken to the morgue of the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institution for autopsy after the investigation by the gendarmerie and the prosecutor at the scene.
