In a statement from the official social media account of the Indian Air Force, it was reported that the "Su-30MKI" type fighter jet took off from Jorhat city in Assam state. The statement noted that the last contact with the aircraft was established at 19:42 local time, and it was recorded that the aircraft disappeared from radar after exceeding the planned arrival time.

The statement mentioned that a search and rescue operation has been initiated to locate the aircraft and that efforts in the region are ongoing.
