A new fuel price increase is expected.

With the new year, a 6% increase in the Special Consumption Tax (SCT) will come into effect for fuel, and it is expected that diesel prices will rise starting tomorrow.

As of Wednesday, January 8, a price increase of 0.98 TL is expected in the diesel group. As of today, there is no new price change expected in the gasoline group, which has seen an increase of 1.27 TL. The price of diesel in Istanbul will rise to 45.75 TL, in Ankara to 46.31 TL, and in Izmir to 46.80 TL.

GASOLINE RECEIVED A PRICE INCREASE LAST NIGHT

A price increase of 1.25 TL occurred in the gasoline group. With the new increase, the price of gasoline per liter has reached 45.30 TL in Istanbul. Gasoline prices have risen to 46.14 TL in Izmir and 45.68 TL in Ankara. Following this increase, the price of gasoline has risen by 7.60% in the last month.

HOW ARE FUEL PRICES CALCULATED?

Fuel prices are calculated by refineries based on the average prices of refined products in the Mediterranean market, which includes Turkey, and changes in the dollar exchange rate. As a result of this calculation, the prices applied by distribution companies may show slight variations due to competition and freedom among companies and cities.

EPGIS HAD DECIDED NOT TO ANNOUNCE PRICE CHANGES

After the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) filed a complaint against EPGIS, the only union that announces changes in prices, the union announced that it would not share fuel price changes with the public until the legal process is concluded.
