A new metro line will be constructed to connect three districts to Istanbul.

The approval has been granted by the Istanbul Governorship for the Üsküdar-Kadıköy-Maltepe tram line of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB). A total of 8 billion 45 million 647 thousand 428 lira is expected to be spent on the project, which is planned to be completed in 3 years.

3 DISTRICTS WILL BE CONNECTED BY METRO

The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) application made by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) for the new 21-kilometer tram line connecting Üsküdar, Kadıköy, and Maltepe has been concluded by the Istanbul Governorship. A decision of "EIA is not required" has been made for the tram project.

The line, which is estimated to cost 8 billion 45 million 647 thousand 428 TL, is expected to start this year and be completed in 3 years.

TEST DRIVES WILL BEGIN

The report stated that the Kadıköy Pier Square, through which the tram line will pass, will be cleared of IETT stops, and some trees along the route will be relocated: Excavation works, the construction of stations, etc. will be completed, and then the final laying of the tracks will take place. Tram vehicles will be purchased, and after the purchasing process is completed, test drives will begin.
