Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu announced that they are working on a new system for patients using prescription medications. With this system, patients will be able to obtain medications directly from the pharmacy as long as the medication report is valid.
Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu reported that they are working on a new system that will allow patients using medications covered by a report to obtain their medications from the pharmacy without going to the doctor in order to have a prescription written every three months, as long as there is no change in their treatment.
Making statements about the work being carried out, Minister Memişoğlu shared the following information:
"We requested this from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, and they are making preparations. Let's say a report was written. You have a 6-month medication report. Once the medication is prescribed by the doctor, you become able to obtain it directly from the pharmacy until there is a change regarding that medication. In other words, you do not need to go to the doctor again and have a second medication prescribed.
"MEDICATION LINKED TO A REPORT CAN BE OBTAINED FROM THE PHARMACY AT THE MONTHLY DOSE"
We are working on a system that will ensure that medication can be obtained from the pharmacy at the monthly dose throughout the period for which the medication report is valid. Very soon, God willing, we will present it for the service of our people. Thus, we plan for our elderly people who have a medication report due to a chronic illness to have access to the medication as long as the medication report is valid, instead of going and having their medications written by the doctor every time. We will provide convenience for our patients who use medications linked to more than one report and have to have these medications prescribed at different times."
"WE ARE TRYING TO BRING HEALTHCARE TO OUR CITIZENS' DOORSTEPS"
Stating that elderly or bedridden people going to the hospital for blood tests, examinations, and treatment also brings risks such as infection and falls, Memişoğlu emphasized that for this reason it is important to bring healthcare services as much as possible to where the patient is. Emphasizing that healthcare services should not focus only on treating diseases, Memişoğlu also called for preventive healthcare services to be used more.
"LET THE PUBLIC DEMAND HEALTH FROM US"
Stating that society most often requests from the Ministry of Health in the form of "treat my illness," Memişoğlu said that the priority in healthcare services should be supporting healthy living before illness occurs.
Memişoğlu said, "Our main request from society is that they demand health from us. That they demand not getting sick. That they demand that we provide them with support on how to stay healthy. We are already ready for that."
PHYSIOTHERAPIST AND DIETITIAN SERVICES AT HEALTHY LIFE CENTERS ARE FREE
Calling on citizens to apply to family physicians and Healthy Life Centers, Memişoğlu stated that physiotherapist and dietitian services are provided free of charge at these centers. Expressing that cancer screenings and various tests can be performed within the scope of preventive healthcare services at family medicine clinics, Memişoğlu said, "What is important is that people stay healthy. That a person lives healthily. That they age healthily."
Emphasizing that healthcare services have the infrastructure and human resources capable of meeting this goal, Memişoğlu asked citizens to benefit more from preventive healthcare services before they get sick.
