HÜDA PAR Deputy Chairman and Gaziantep Member of Parliament Şahzade Demir submitted a parliamentary question to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, requesting a response from Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz regarding the disclosure of the burial site of Sheikh Said.

In the parliamentary question submitted by Demir, it was stated, "I respectfully request that my questions below be answered in writing by Vice President Mr. Cevdet Yılmaz in accordance with Articles 98 of the Constitution and Articles 96 and 99 of the Internal Regulations of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey."

"IT CAUSES DISCOMFORT IN THE PUBLIC EYE"

In the proposal emphasizing that it has been 99 years since Sheikh Said and his friends were executed by the Eastern Independence Court, which was composed of individuals without legal qualifications, the following statements were included:

"Despite all this time, the burial sites of these individuals, whom the public values and respects their memories, continue to be kept secret as state secrets, hidden from the public and their families. Although all decisions of the Independence Courts were annulled with Law No. 3527 enacted on June 29, 1938, the fact that the graves are still being concealed from their families and loved ones is incompatible with humanitarian and Islamic values and the understanding of a rule of law. This issue is a significant source of discomfort for families and the public."

Sheikh Said, a great Islamic scholar, is an important figure for Kurds and the Muslim population living in Turkey. He fought not against the state, but against the mentality of the Committee of Union and Progress to defend Islam and the rights and laws of the Muslim people. Accusing those who resist this mentality, which declares war on the beliefs and values of society, of treachery is an injustice to our history and values.

"AN IMPORTANT MILESTONE IN FACING OUR HISTORY"

The proposal emphasized that disclosing the burial sites of Sheikh Said and his friends, abandoning accusations of treachery, and the state confronting its past mistakes is an opportunity for achieving social peace:

"Acknowledging the wrongfulness of the unlawful practices carried out in the past will be an important step towards restoring the broken brotherhood. These steps will be significant milestones in facing our history, turning back from mistakes, and making a new beginning."

In this context;

1. Is any work being done to identify and disclose the burial sites of Sheikh Said and his friends to the public? If so, what stage are these efforts at?

2. When will the documents in state archives and other relevant institutions regarding this issue be shared with the public?

3. What are the reasons for keeping the burial sites of Sheikh Said and his friends secret?

4. Is there any work being done to properly inform the public about Sheikh Said and the Uprising? What kind of information and transparency policy is being followed in this regard?

5. Is there any consideration to give their names to some official institutions in order to preserve the dignity of Sheikh Said and his friends by abandoning accusations of treachery and not endorsing the unlawful practices of the state in the past?
