In the Gebze district of Kocaeli, a person blocked the vehicles of Syrian refugees celebrating the fall of the 61-year-old Baath regime in Syria, saying, "Where is your permission? You need to get permission. Did you get it from the police, from the district governor? What’s wrong with you, I’ll start with your Assad. Don’t talk, you need permission."

In a statement from the Kocaeli Police Department, it was noted that the person who blocked the vehicles of Syrian refugees celebrating in Gebze, whose images were shared on social media, was identified as A.K.D. The statement recorded that A.K.D. was detained for "inciting hatred and hostility among the public or humiliation."
