"WE SEE THE NEW ACTION PLAN AS A NEW HORIZON"
In his speech, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated, "With the new GAP Action Plan (2024-2028), we see the future vision of the region as a new horizon for building a more developed region."
Yılmaz said, "With the new action plan, we aim to complete irrigation investments, promote efficient and smart agricultural practices, focus on tourism-driven growth, and most importantly, create an attractive investment environment for the private sector."
"6.6 BILLION TL HAS BEEN PROVIDED FOR 1,038 PROJECTS IN THE LAST 11 YEARS"
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated, "By establishing 20 new Organized Industrial Zones (OIZ) in our 9 provinces in the region, we have paved the way for the creation of more than 360,000 additional jobs. With our investment incentive system, we have opened the way for 15,400 investments worth 1.1 trillion TL, which will provide employment for 710,000 citizens. With the investments completed this year alone, we created employment for 10,242 in Diyarbakır, 9,922 in Şanlıurfa, 10,228 in Mardin, and 9,929 in Batman," he said.
Minister Kacır, who said, "Through our GAP Regional Development Administration, we have implemented significant projects in many areas, from precision agriculture to effective management of water resources, from rural development to tourism, to support the multifaceted development of the region," added, "In the last 11 years, our Regional Development Administration has provided a total of 6.6 billion TL for 1,038 projects aimed at sustainable growth in the GAP Region."
Stating that the GAP region is one of the geographies with the highest agricultural production potential in Turkey, Minister Kacır said, "We see the agricultural production and productivity of our region, which hosts 20% of the irrigable lands in Turkey, as a cornerstone for building a sustainable future. In this regard, with the Small-Scale Agricultural Irrigation Program we launched two years ago to increase the agricultural production potential in our region, we have opened 318,000 decares of land for irrigation." Minister Kacır also noted that by next year, they will have opened an additional 52,500 decares of land for irrigation, providing employment for 49,000 people.
