A 40-year-old police officer was imprisoned for having a relationship with a woman he detained while on duty as a victim of domestic violence. According to the judge, Adam Jones engaged in consensual sexual relations with two women while on duty and also stalked a third woman. The 40-year-old officer, who served as a full-time police officer from 2009 to 2022, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison after being found guilty of misconduct in public office, willful neglect of duty, and abuse of power. Jones, who was stationed at Milton Keynes Police Station and lived in Monkston, Milton Keynes, committed his offenses between 2013 and 2021. The identities of the victims cannot be disclosed for legal reasons. Prosecutor James Bruce told the court that in 2013, two women reported domestic violence to the police. While having a sexual relationship with one of the complainants over the years, Jones stalked the other. In 2021, Jones began messaging a woman he had arrested without even taking her statement. At Reading Magistrates' Court, it was revealed that Jones sent personal and sexually explicit messages to the woman before she appeared in court and offered advice regarding her case. Jones later deleted the messages. Jones resigned from his position on September 14, 2022.
