Turkey was shaken by the scandal of the 'Newborn Gang', which is labeled as a baby killer. The licenses of the hospitals mentioned in the investigation related to the gang, which caused the deaths of emergency baby patients by transferring them to the newborn units of private hospitals they had previously agreed upon, were revoked one by one. Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu signaled that regulations regarding private hospitals would be made in his statement. "OUR TEAMS WILL BE ON THE FIELD NOT ONLY FOR THE NEWBORN BRANCH BUT FOR ALL BRANCHES"In his statement, Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu said, "Our ongoing inspections will continue to be carried out more strictly than ever, day and night, to prevent those who exploit our healthcare system and threaten our citizens and their most valuable assets, their children. While maintaining our current healthcare services without any disruption or abuse, our ministry's inspection teams will be on the field at full capacity not only for the newborn branch but for the inspection of all branches in hospitals." he stated. "STRUCTURAL REFORM REGARDING PRIVATE HOSPITALS IS ON OUR AGENDA"Minister Memişoğlu continued his statement as follows: "The current inspection system will be updated, and commissions consisting of expert physicians and academicians from every branch will be established. While inspections regarding private hospitals continue uninterrupted, structural reforms related to private healthcare institutions are also on our ministry's agenda. We will not allow those who try to tarnish our healthcare system, which is appreciated by the whole world, for personal gain and material interests. We will not let a handful of greedy gangs tarnish the reputation of our healthcare workers who serve with great sacrifice during disasters and epidemics," he stated.
