Heavy rain and wind in Antalya caused a tree to fall. In the Gürsu neighborhood of the Konyaaltı district, a 10-meter-long tree fell onto two parked vehicles and caused damage to a building.
A yellow alert was issued in Antalya, where the heavy rain and strong winds led to the toppling of a tree that had allegedly been reported before. Two vehicles and a building were damaged in the incident, but fortunately, no one was injured.
The rain, which intensified in the Konyaaltı district of Antalya in the evening hours, caused a 10-meter-long tree to fall in the Gürsu neighborhood.
FELL ON TOP OF VEHICLES
The tree fell in the middle of the road, causing damage to two parked vehicles. Upon notification, fire crews from the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality were dispatched to the scene, and with the tree's fall, the building's windows were broken, and the balcony was damaged.
"THE BUILDING'S WINDOWS WERE BROKEN"
Mahmut Göl, a resident of the same building, stated that the tree had posed a danger before, saying, "I applied to the municipality for the tree to be cut down, but they couldn't proceed due to it being on private property. Thank God there were no casualties. Two vehicles were damaged, the building's windows were broken, and there is significant damage below."
"TWO NEIGHBORS' BALCONIES WERE DAMAGED"
Fuat Oral, a local resident, expressed that the tree had been a risk for a long time, stating, "This tree was already leaning before. It was clear it would fall after the rain. Thankfully it happened in the evening. During the day, there are kindergartens and hotels here; nothing negative happened. We will see the damage after the tree is removed. We thought there was an earthquake; it shaved the building from below. Our only consolation is that no one was harmed. Only two vehicles and a neighbor's balcony were damaged," he said.
