Footage captured the moments when dump trucks unloaded debris onto a vacant lot owned by Mehmet Tahir Bozoğlan, a furniture shopkeeper in Hatay, during the night. Bozoğlan, who had cleared his land twice at his own expense, expressed astonishment at the excuse "we dumped it by mistake" and demanded that those responsible be identified and punished.
Mehmet Tahir Bozoğlan, who has a workplace in the Güzelburç neighborhood of Antakya district in Hatay, earns his living as a tradesman in the furniture sector.
HE REALIZED THE TRUTH WHEN HE WATCHED THE CAMERA FOOTAGE Bozoğlan, who put effort into beautifying his workplace, noticed piles of debris on the plot when he closed his shop in the evening and opened it in the morning. Bozoğlan rented an excavator to remove the debris, cleared the area with the help of machinery, and then installed cameras around his workplace. As days passed, he saw the debris piles increasing. While reviewing the camera recordings, Bozoğlan realized the truth and saw moments when dump trucks arrived at the plot at night, dumped their debris, and left.
HE WAS SHOCKED BY THE RESPONSE HE RECEIVED Bozoğlan, who waited late hours after closing his shop to catch the individuals dumping debris on the plot, argued with a driver he saw dumping debris. When Bozoğlan asked the driver why he was dumping debris on the land, he couldn't believe the dump truck driver's words, "We dumped it by mistake." Stating that the dump trucks constantly dump debris, Bozoğlan said he requested that authorities take action and impose penalties.
"THIS PLACE IS QUIET AT NIGHT WITH NO ONE AROUND, THEY SEE THE SHOPS ARE CLOSED AND COME TO DUMP AND FLEE" Mehmet Tahir Bozoğlan, who stated that despite clearing the debris from his land with an excavator, the trucks continued dumping debris, said: "These haulage companies, as you see, we fix it with our own means, but they come secretly at night, dump here, and flee. They also hide their license plates. Fortunately, we installed cameras and identified them. We have camera footage and have reported it to the necessary authorities. They also ruin the roads. As if that's not enough, they come and dump debris here. Our workplace is left inside the dumping area, and they dump piece by piece. Every night after closing the shops, since the dumping area is far, they dump nearby and flee. Sometimes two or three cars dump and flee at night. We hire an excavator with our own means, and we've fixed this place twice already.
"WE SUBMITTED THE FOOTAGE TO THE NECESSARY AUTHORITIES" Now, as you see, they've closed it again. Each time, we spend at least 5,000 TL. We gave the camera footage to the necessary places. Hopefully, no one will dump again. Brother, you already see in the camera footage. This place is quiet at night, and no one is around. Since they see the shops closed, they come, dump, and flee. We happened to come here to unload products and caught them that way. When we saw them, they said, 'For God's sake, don't tell anyone,' but they keep burning us. Their excuse is 'we dumped it by mistake.' It's all a story of dumping by mistake. But it's not a mistake. To save a few pennies on fuel, they come here, dump, and flee. The shop owner has to clean it up, they don't care. Of course, a customer seeing such a sight is bound to be affected. We try to beautify the shops as we bought them, with the decor and expenses. Besides this debris, they also ruin the roads. Honestly, my request is for them to do what is necessary. These guys don't only dump here; they dump in many places. Everyone in many parts of Antakya complains about them. Let them catch them and impose the heaviest penalty. Hopefully, they will fix this place for us."
