Some members of the U.S. Congress reacted to Israel's recent attacks on Syria, demanding that Israel immediately cease hostilities towards Syria.
U.S. Senators Democrat Jeanne Shaheen and Republican Joni Ernst, along with Republican House Representative Joe Wilson, expressed their response to Israel in a joint statement.
STRONG REACTION FROM CONGRESS MEMBERS TO ISRAEL
In the statement, the Congress members said, "Syria needs a chance to move beyond the violence and conflicts that have consumed the country for over 14 years. The destabilizing attacks by Israel on Syria last night make achieving this goal even more difficult."
Democrat Shaheen, Republican Ernst, and Wilson recalled that they had recently visited Syria, supporting the decision to lift U.S. sanctions imposed on the country and stating that the Damascus government needs stability.
"WE CALL ON ISRAEL TO IMMEDIATELY CEASE HOSTILITIES"
The Congress members emphasized, "We call on Israel to take this opportunity and immediately cease hostilities so that the progress made by the Syrian people and Special Representative Tom Barrack can continue. The only way to break free from Iran's influence and control the threat of ISIS is a stable and secure Syria."
WHAT HAPPENED?
In attacks carried out by Israeli drones in the Küsve region of rural Damascus on August 27, 6 Syrian soldiers lost their lives. The Israeli army conducted numerous airstrikes on Mount Mani in the Küsve region following the initial attack.
