A very young athlete has died, but Mehmet Sekmen is busy trying to clear his name.

The Judo National Team, which is conducting a high-altitude camp on Mount Palandöken in Erzurum, encountered an avalanche while climbing in the Sultan Seki area. While 3 athletes from the Judo National Team were rescued from under the avalanche, a 16-year-old national athlete lost his life.

After the incident, Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mehmet Sekmen's efforts to shift the responsibility away from himself during a live broadcast on CNN Türk did not go unnoticed.
