In the Develi district of Kayseri, a waterfall that had dwindled over time due to drought and had not flowed for 10 years has regained its former vigor thanks to this year's rainfall.

In the Develi district of Kayseri, a waterfall at the foot of Mount Erciyes, which had been completely dry for about 10 years due to drought, has started flowing again this year with increased rainfall.

HAD BEEN DRY FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS

The waterfall near Kanlıcaöz Plateau within the borders of Çomaklı Neighborhood had gradually lost its former vigor from about 50 years ago. Due to drought in recent years, the waterfall had been completely dry for 10 years, but with the increase in snow and rainfall this year, it has begun to flow vigorously again.

Hacı Kale, the headman of Çomaklı Neighborhood, told an AA correspondent that they had only heard from elders about the waterfall flowing like this.

Kale stated that the waters receded over time due to the effect of drought, and continued as follows:

"This is located at the lower part of Kanlıcaöz Plateau at the foot of Mount Erciyes. It is the area called Paklalık, where Armenians used to live. According to our elders, this waterfall existed for years. It hadn't flowed for 10 years. Due to increased rainfall, it has regained its former state. It has now become as our fathers and grandfathers described. Our waterfall has roared and returned to its old form. The melted snow waters from Erciyes also come here. The snow melted quickly too. We have regained our 40-50 year old waterfall. Now, the number of people wanting to come and see it has increased."

"WE ARE HAPPY THAT THE WATERFALL HAS STARTED FLOWING AGAIN"

Emrah Şensoy, a local resident, stated that he witnessed the waterfall flowing like this for the first time.

Şensoy, expressing that rainfall was effective in the waterfall flowing again, said, "I have seen it like this for the first time in my life. It hadn't flowed for the last 10 years, no water came. It was nice to come and see it. As villagers, we are happy that the waterfall has started flowing again. This year's rainfall was very good, and our waterfall has flowed again."

Salih Karataş also pointed out that it would be good for the waterfall to be introduced to tourism and that people could choose this route for hiking.

İbrahim Aksoy stated that they had only heard about this state of the waterfall from their elders, saying, "The elders used to say that a lot of water flowed from this waterfall, but we had never seen it. With increased rainfall, the water has now increased. These waters go towards Sindelhöyük. Seeing this place in person is more beautiful."
