CHP Chairman Özgür Özel answered questions from journalists after attending a program. Özel made a claim that would be on the agenda. CHP leader Özel stated that he learned that instructions were sent to the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) regarding Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş. Özel, who said that issues that previously did not require investigation were being revisited, stated, "They are trying to find a connection by giving instructions to MİT." Following Özel's shocking claim, the first step came from MİT President İbrahim Kalın. Journalist İsmail Saymaz claimed that İbrahim Kalın called Özgür Özel. Saymaz reported that intelligence sources expressed discomfort regarding Özel's claim about Mansur Yavaş and published the evaluation he received from the sources. Sources provided the following information to İsmail Saymaz regarding Özel's claims about Mansur Yavaş and MİT: "It is not right to put the security organization of the state, which is under very intense workload, under suspicion; this saddens us greatly. You must provide evidence. MİT does not have such a working system. No one can give such an instruction. No one can even think of such a thing. MİT operates in accordance with military hierarchy." Saymaz stated that Kalın categorically denied the claim that information was being gathered against Yavaş by calling Özel yesterday, and also mentioned that Kalın would provide a briefing to Özel during the meeting.
