Op. Dr. Özlem Gültekin, who was determined by the forensic medicine report to have died as a result of propofol poisoning, an anesthetic drug, was in the process of divorce from her husband, presenter Erhan Çelik, who made a statement. After the autopsy report, he stated that a video targeting him was recirculated by his wife's family. Stating that his wife had apologized to him in due time because of the video, Çelik said, 'All those responsible for this perception operation, just like those who found those drugs for Özlem, will account for it in court.'
On the day the autopsy results of my late wife, Özlem Gültekin Çelik, from whom I was in the process of divorcing, were announced and it was determined that her death was linked to an overdose of narcotic/stimulant drugs, a video targeting me was recirculated in a manner intended to divert public attention from this fact, making this statement necessary.
The video in question pertains to a period for which my late wife later expressed regret and publicly apologized to me.
In the forensic medicine report reflected in the media today, the definitive cause of death is stated as addiction to an anesthetic drug (propofol). Although I confronted this painful truth years ago, as I expressed in my previous statement, the feeling I had when I read the cause of death was no different from the moment I first accidentally witnessed this illness and was devastated.
Throughout the process, from 2023 when I noticed her condition, which predated our marriage that began in 2019, until 2025 when I filed for divorce, I exerted all my effort for her treatment both domestically and abroad, yet family members who had been aware of the issue for years never provided me with the slightest information.
On the day I learned of her substance addiction, just as today, I was utterly alone with my son. No family member, friend, or acquaintance was with us. Her only other supporter in the struggle for recovery was my 70-year-old mother.
Nevertheless, even though the true cause of death would eventually come to light as it did today, I agreed to the family's collective request to state 'heart attack' as the cause, in order not to compound their grief.
Because, in their own words, they publicly stated they stood by me 'against publications that would target our child's father without any legal or financial basis'. Although they were never present during her lifetime or throughout her treatment, I saw their current support for me and my child as an opportunity for the future familial relationship they would build with my son.
Three days after her death, on August 16th, all her siblings and children coming to offer their condolences to me and my son, standing by us, was the clearest indication of this.
Now, however, on the very day the report emerged stating she died from a drug overdose, I witnessed without surprise that these wretched people circulated an old video, recorded in messages on my phone, in which my late wife, out of anger over my filing for divorce, made false statements—for which she later apologized and asked us to reunite—in the exact same manner.
Although her family issued a statement to the public affirming their support for me, they continue to stand idly by, just as they did when they failed to inform me of my late wife's illness before our marriage and left me alone during her treatment after I discovered her addiction, refraining from respecting Özlem's memory despite their pain through such manipulations. Because once the cause of death came to light, their sole concern was an extremely primitive mindset of 'what will we tell our tribe, people left and right'.
At this point, even though the autopsy report shows that Özlem was increasingly driven toward death day by day by drug dealers, the fact that not a single family member or so-called close associate has filed a complaint or shared what they know with judicial authorities—other than the criminal complaint I filed on behalf of myself and my son against those who encouraged, supplied, and injected these narcotic drugs leading to her death—stands as the clearest picture of this situation.
Because our tribe, our spouse, our friends—always asking 'what will people say now'—kept the drug addiction as hidden as possible, and an easy target was always readily available for them.
It is another painful truth that those so-called relatives who circulated the videos in which my late wife expressed regret for her false statements and apologized to me, making her a target, have not lifted a finger today to ensure the criminals are caught. Because they have not filed a single complaint or criminal charge against these individuals. Only I have. Only I do… Because only I want the truth to emerge and those responsible to be punished. Their sole concern is, 'as long as the drugs don't come to light, whatever happens.'
On the evening of the day she passed away, her family initiated communications via WhatsApp messages, which remain recorded on my phone, and in the presence of her siblings and her lawyer Işılay Karataş Tunca, I stated that I renounced any claim to her non-existent inheritance concerning my son, yet I would personally handle her accumulated debts, including 5 months of unpaid rent, bank debts, dues, and credit payments. Despite this, solely to conceal the reality of this drug scourge, they continue the same perception operations today, on the day the forensic report was released.
Those harmed are not so much me, but an innocent 6-year-old child left orphaned. Where has it ever been seen that those who were of no benefit to their own children could be of any use to their grandchildren? Those who present a deceased woman's statements—which they know to be false—as truth, even after she has been laid in the grave, have not only their characters but also their very humanity called into question!
All those responsible for this perception operation, launched on the very evening of the day the autopsy report revealed that my late wife died from an overdose of narcotic drugs, will be held accountable before the law, just like those who found, injected, and sold those drugs to Özlem. Wait and see!
