The President of the All Pharmacist Employers Union (TEİS), Nurten Saydan, made a statement regarding the restricted access to drugs with revoked licenses and innovative drugs. Pointing out that companies promoted 18 drugs on social media for days when they were included in the reimbursement scope, Saydan reacted to the silence of drug company officials regarding the revocation of licenses for 938 drugs in the last 2 years. Saydan announced that pharmaceutical companies are gradually withdrawing from Turkey. "A BURDEN ON THE ENTIRE SECTOR"While the world is advancing in the fields of medicine and pharmacy, and the World Health Organization has declared various pandemics and endemic disease outbreaks, Saydan continued her statements by noting that this year 604 and last year 328 drugs had their licenses revoked in Turkey: "The fact that access to innovative drugs is at around 6% in Turkey is quite concerning. The latest Euro exchange rate determined by the Ministry for drug pricing is 21.67. Unfortunately, this situation, which is far from economic reality, brings an economic burden to the entire sector." As a result, many drugs continue to be unavailable and 'non-existent', and imported products are no longer being imported. Newly released drugs and those newly introduced for treatment are not being brought to our country, and the licenses of existing drugs are also being revoked. "WE WILL LOSE OUR LOCAL DRUGS TOO"As TEİS, we have always supported local drugs, and we continue to do so, but nationalizing in pharmaceuticals cannot be done this way. The decisions made are not only keeping new generation drugs away from our country but also putting pressure on our local pharmaceutical industry and preventing sufficient resources from being allocated for R&D studies. If the conditions continue like this, we will also lose our local drugs."
