A natural gas leak that occurred in the evening hours in Erzurum has put teams on alert. The teams worked on the street where the gas leak was detected.

A natural gas leak panic occurred in Erzurum. Following a natural gas explosion in the Yakutiye district the day before yesterday, gas supply was cut off in some streets and avenues of Kazım Karabekir Paşa, Lala Paşa, Murat Paşa, Ömer Nasuhi Bilmen, and Rabia Ana neighborhoods.

LEAK PANIC AFTER THE EXPLOSION

While efforts to resolve the issue continue, a gas leak notification was made today around 19:00 on Cengiz Topel Street in Ömer Nasuhi Bilmen Neighborhood. In addition to the gas distribution company teams, AFAD, fire brigade, UMKE, and police teams were dispatched to the area. Teams continuously took measurements with their devices on the street where the gas leak was occasionally felt. While efforts were made to identify the source of the leak through pits opened at various points on the street, some teams also conducted gas measurements in the apartments.

"WE WILL SEEK LEGAL REMEDIES"

Meanwhile, regarding the natural gas cuts experienced in the city center, Hakan Oral, the President of Erzurum Commodity Exchange, made a written statement. Expressing that the cuts have caused significant grievances for businesses, Oral stated the following in his announcement:

"The natural gas cuts, which have been ongoing for 3 days under the guise of maintenance work in various regions of our city, are causing great distress, especially for the businesses that are members of our exchange working in the service sector. The fact that no notification was made to any subscriber prior to the natural gas cut is not only indicative of the quality of service provided but is also clearly an unlawful situation. As Erzurum Commodity Exchange, we are always alongside our members in the face of this grievance they are experiencing. We would like to inform our members and the public that we will seek legal remedies to compensate for this grievance experienced by our members in accordance with the rights granted to our institution by the laws."
