The parties also discussed transitional mechanisms aimed at ensuring accountability and justice for the "victims" of the brutal war conducted by the overthrown Assad regime. The new administration in Syria confirmed its determination to establish principled relations with all stakeholders to build a future based on justice, dignity, and sovereignty for the country, while emphasizing the importance of addressing past mistakes in the re-establishment of relations and respecting the will and interests of the Syrian people.
FLASH ASSAD REQUEST FROM SYRIA
According to a report based on a Syrian source, it was claimed that the de facto leader of the Syrian interim government, Ahmed al-Shara, requested the return of Bashar Assad, who fled to Russia after his overthrow in December. No statement has yet been made regarding the matter.
