A scuffle broke out at the Batman Municipality, where a trustee was appointed by the Ministry of Interior. Tension arose between party members trying to enter the building with the message from the removed Co-Chair Gülistan Sönük, "We are going to our municipal building; we do not recognize any unlawful decisions," and the police.

Following the appointment of a trustee to Istanbul's Esenyurt Municipality last week, this morning, the Ministry of Interior appointed Governor Ekrem Canalp as the trustee of Batman Municipality. Canalp entered the municipal building, and security measures were taken in the area.

SÖNÜK: WE DO NOT RECOGNIZE ANY ILLEGAL DECISION

Gülistan Sönük, the co-mayor of Batman Municipality who was dismissed by the ministry, stated after the trustee decision, "Our municipality, which we won with the highest vote rate across Turkey in the March 31 elections, through the efforts of women, youth, and our people, has been seized this morning without any notification. We do not accept this plunder and usurper regime, and we will not. Municipalities belong to the people. We are going to our municipal building; we do not recognize any illegal decision," she said.
