In the Champions League quarter-finals, PSG's Desire Doue was injured after hitting the microphone stand during an away match at Liverpool and had to leave the game. This unfortunate incident brought back memories of Noa Lang's serious injury at Anfield.

An unfortunate injury during the Champions League quarter-final second leg match between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain recalled the accident suffered by Galatasaray's Noa Lang. PSG's young star Desire Doue collided with equipment near the pitch and was unable to continue playing.

MICROPHONE STAND CAUSES INJURY

Desire Doue, who started the match at Anfield, lost his balance after a duel with Dominik Szoboszlai at the start of the second half. Unable to stop his momentum near the touchline, the 20-year-old player crashed hard into a microphone stand beneath the advertising boards. The tripod's legs struck Doue in the abdominal and knee area, leaving the player in pain on the ground.

COULD NOT CONTINUE THE MATCH

After receiving medical attention and briefly returning to play, Doue went down again in the 52nd minute due to the pain he was experiencing and had to leave the match. Bradley Barcola came on for Doue at PSG.

REMINDED OF NOA LANG'S INJURY

The incident brought to mind the serious injury Galatasaray's Noa Lang suffered, also at Anfield, in March. After hitting the advertising boards, Lang sustained a deep cut on his right thumb and underwent emergency surgery.

UEFA HAD LAUNCHED AN INVESTIGATION

Following Lang's injury, UEFA and Liverpool Football Club launched an investigation into the equipment near the pitch. Assessments focused on the possibility that his finger got caught between the LED panels.

NEW ARRANGEMENTS PITCHSIDE

According to a report by The Athletic, Liverpool has made adjustments to the advertising boards, particularly behind the goals, to prevent similar accidents. It is stated that the new system creates gaps to reduce the impact force upon collision. The club emphasized that what happened was an "unfortunate accident" and explained that the measures taken aim to enhance player safety.
