The Iraqi Defense Minister, Sabit Abbasi, announced that they have reached an agreement with Washington for the withdrawal of American soldiers from Iraq within two years. In an interview with Al-Arabiya Al-Hadath television channel, Iraqi Defense Minister Sabit Abbasi addressed the issue of the withdrawal of US soldiers from Iraq. Abbasi announced the decision that emerged from their discussions with the Washington administration. US SOLDIERS TO WITHDRAW FROM IRAQ WITHIN 2 YEARSAbbasi stated that US soldiers will withdraw from Iraq within 2 years, saying, "An agreement has been reached for the termination of the mission of the US-led coalition forces in Iraq in two stages. The first stage of withdrawal will begin this year and continue until 2025. The second stage of withdrawal will end in 2026." AGREEMENT TO BE SIGNED IN THE COMING DAYSAbbasi also stated that US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin believes that the two-year period is not sufficient for the withdrawal and requested an additional year, but Baghdad refused to extend the period beyond 2 years. Iraqi Defense Minister Abbasi added that the withdrawal agreement with Washington will be signed in the coming days.
