The summer heat, which is increasing its effect across the country, is set to rise starting today. While thermometers in Istanbul are expected to reach 35 degrees today, the air temperature is expected to continue increasing further over the weekend. As scorching heat takes effect across the country, the Meteorology Department has warned citizens about the oppressive weather, as well as the strong winds and local downpours expected in the eastern regions.

According to the latest assessments by the Turkish State Meteorological Service, the weather across the country is expected to be mostly partly cloudy and clear, while the northeastern regions are forecast to be under the influence of partly and locally cloudy weather. Air temperatures are expected to rise 3 to 5 degrees above seasonal norms in the western, southern, and inland parts, and the effect of the hot weather is expected to continue until the end of the month.

It has been reported that locally heavy rainfall will occur on the eastern Black Sea coast and in the east of Eastern Anatolia, while winds reaching storm force will be effective from the evening hours in the north of the Eastern and Southeastern regions.

ATTENTION TO THOSE LIVING IN THESE PROVINCES: RAIN WARNING ISSUED

While local showers and thunderstorms are expected in the coastal parts of the Eastern Black Sea and in the southern parts of Iğdır and the eastern surroundings of Ağrı, the weather is forecast to be partly cloudy and clear in other regions.

While local showers and thunderstorms are expected in Ordu, Giresun, Trabzon, Rize, and Artvin, as well as in Ağrı and Iğdır surroundings in Eastern Anatolia, authorities have warned citizens against adverse conditions such as flash floods, waterlogging, and lightning.

TEMPERATURES TO RISE BY 5 DEGREES AT ONCE

Air temperatures are expected to be 3 to 5 degrees above seasonal norms in the western and southern parts, 1 to 3 degrees above in inland parts, and around seasonal norms in the eastern regions.

The wind is expected to be generally from the north, and from the south along the Mediterranean coast, light, occasionally moderate.

METEOROLOGY GIVES TIME: STRONG WIND WARNING

Since the wind is expected to blow strongly from the north (40-60 km/h) in Eastern Anatolia and the north of Southeastern Anatolia from the evening hours, officials and citizens have been asked to be careful and cautious against possible adverse conditions.
