AK Party Spokesperson Çelik's new statement regarding lieutenants: If there is intention and indiscipline, necessary actions will be taken.

AK Party Spokesperson Çelik's new statement regarding lieutenants: If there is intention and indiscipline, necessary actions will be taken.

After President Erdogan's remark "Who are you drawing these swords against?" during the swearing-in ceremony of lieutenants at the military academy, AK Party Spokesperson Omer Celik made a new statement. Celik, in a live broadcast he participated in, said, "Intention, negligence, and indiscipline will be examined in this context, and necessary actions will be taken." AK Party Spokesperson had also stated in a previous statement, "It is unhealthy to approach the respect shown to Ataturk in a way that is directed towards our president. If there is indiscipline, it will be investigated."

The sword oath ceremony at the military academy, which has caused controversy, has led President Erdogan to ask, "Who are you drawing these swords against?" AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik made a new statement in a live broadcast he attended. Çelik used the expressions "intention, negligence, indiscipline will be examined in this context and necessary actions will be taken." In a statement he made a few days ago, AK Party Spokesperson had said, "It is unhealthy to interpret the respect shown to Atatürk as a message to our President. If there is any indiscipline, it will also be examined."

THE "SWORD" OATH OF LIEUTENANTS STIRRED UP THE SCENE

While the echoes of the lieutenants drawing their swords and chanting "We are Mustafa Kemal's soldiers" at the graduation ceremony at the Land Forces Academy on August 30th continue, the debate has escalated. President Erdogan said in his statement, "Who are you drawing these swords against? We have had discussions with the Ministry of National Defense and we are taking steps to remove them quickly."

NEW STATEMENT FROM AK PARTY SPOKESPERSON ÇELİK

AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik made statements on the issue during his live broadcast on Habertürk. Regarding the lieutenants after the AK Party Central Decision Board meeting a few days ago, Çelik said, "There are those who interpret the respect shown to the eternal commander-in-chief of the armed forces, Atatürk, as a message to Erdoğan in a distorted way. It is unhealthy to interpret the respect shown to Atatürk as a message to our President." He emphasized that if there is any indiscipline, necessary actions will be taken.

"INSULTING LIEUTENANTS IS NOT RIGHT"

Çelik said the following: After the footage, I made a statement about the discussion in four categories. Our citizens rightfully expressed their sensitivity by asking if there are images of the old Turkey or if there is a coup attempt. This is highly respectable, I said. There are citizens who share this joy. Two issues came up. While I was trying to respond to them, there were those who used insulting expressions towards the lieutenants. This is not right either. Our President has given very clear messages regarding Turkey's security and foreign policy. Women lieutenants came first from all three forces. As I said at the beginning, democratic control mechanisms are working, I said. This also applies to the Turkish Armed Forces. We have great experience in establishing the right balance between the military and civilian relations.

"OUR CITIZENS' SENSITIVITIES ARE HIGHLY RESPECTABLE"

The issue that is being shown sensitivity here is the emergence of an alternative oath. Military service requires 100% discipline. In the past, we also know that new graduates, some retired soldiers, etc. tried to code it differently. We saw this during the April 27 process as well. We have seen it at other times as well. We are able to see the whole picture in this regard. There were those who expressed their sensitivity by asking if there is an anti-democratic movement. These are highly respectable things that our citizens say.

"OUR PRESIDENT IS THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF OUR ARMED FORCES"

Some people on social media will be examined for messages like 'this was done against the government, a message was sent'. As President Erdogan mentioned in his speech today, the initial results are already apparent. Our President is the commander-in-chief of our armed forces according to the constitution. Last year, you may remember an incident. It was about wearing an Atatürk badge or not. Later, there was an intervention in this matter. At that time, there was a debate over whether he wore the Atatürk badge or not. Both sides were indisciplined in this matter. In the end, it was examined and necessary actions were taken.

"IF THERE IS INTENTION, NEGLIGENCE, INDISCIPLINE, THEY WILL BE EXAMINED"

It is not right to make wholesale accusations and use ugly expressions after such a graduation ceremony. Democratic mechanisms are currently working. Intention, negligence, indiscipline will be examined in this context and necessary actions will be taken. Since I am on the political side, let's see the result of the investigation. Our President's statement today clearly expresses this. It is also revealed that there are those who act with anti-democratic motivation. These will be examined.

"THE THING THAT DAMAGES THE TSK THE MOST IS COUPS"

There must be an absolute and definite sensitivity regarding democracy. The thing that damages the TSK the most is the exploitation of the TSK within the framework of these coups, post-modern coups, and coup attempts. The armed forces derive their legitimacy from the republic. The army is the apple of the people's eye. When you read the past, you will see that all coups are external projects. They are projects produced by those who want to undermine Turkey's sovereignty system and give direction outside of national dynamics. The biggest mistake is when the armed forces point their weapons at their own people. It is extremely important for our citizens to show sensitivity in this regard.

For a long time, until 15 years after the establishment of the AK Party, one of the most important mottos was the superiority of civilian politics. Whether it is a coup, an attempted coup, indiscipline, intention, negligence, these are different things. They will be evaluated. It is clear that the organization of the oath reading needs to be regulated differently. Mr. Özgür Özel says, 'You are opening an investigation against children who say Atatürk.' This is wrong. An investigation is opened for indiscipline here.

"WHEN YOU BRING THE DISCUSSION TO THE ATATÜRK AXIS, YOU DEVIATE FROM ITS REAL COURSE"

On April 27, they were saying the President is in line with Atatürk's thought. Isn't this the job of the military bureaucracy? When you bring this discussion to the Atatürk axis, you deviate from its real course. We have had heavy experiences, the sensitivity shown here is normal. The issue here is turning the security mechanism into a political focus. There is no illegal patriotism. The highest loyalty is to the constitutional order. I am saying this from a historical perspective, not referring to the current situation. When you go beyond the constitutional order, there is no republic, no democracy, and no army left.
