Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, in a statement regarding the investigations opened against municipalities, said, "Investigation permission has been granted for 176 out of 1701 complaints. Of those granted investigation permission, 59 are related to the AK Party, 58 to the CHP, 21 to the MHP, 7 to the İYİ Party, and 10 to the HDP members."

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya answered the questions of the members of parliament during the discussions regarding the budget of his ministry for the year 2025 at the TBMM Planning and Budget Commission.

"176 INVESTIGATION PERMITS GRANTED"

Yerlikaya provided information regarding the number of investigations related to municipalities, stating, "Investigation permits have been granted for 176 out of 1701 complaints. Of those granted investigation permits, 59 are related to AK Party, 58 to CHP, 21 to MHP, 7 to İYİ Party, and 10 to HDP members."

Recalling that the statement "City mayors cannot be supporters of terrorism" belongs to him, Yerlikaya said:

"We have 1408 municipalities. They all came to power with the votes of the people to meet local common needs. Neither they nor we can escape from the Penal Code. Once you step into that area, there is a period of immunity; that's separate, but even here, a case can be opened and kept pending. However, if the subject is terrorism, it enters a different lane. Right now, there are many municipalities with DEM that do not have an ongoing investigation or prosecution by the prosecutor. We are a rule of law. Here, read Article 127 of the Constitution and Articles 45 and 46 of the Municipal Law."
