Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's Chief of Staff Tzachi Braverman is alleged to have blackmailed a military official to gain access to meeting minutes. Braverman denied the allegations and threatened to initiate legal action. BLACKMAIL WITH PRIVATE IMAGES TO OBTAIN MEETING MINUTESAccording to a report by Haaretz, it was claimed that Braverman "resorted to blackmail" to obtain the minutes of meetings held between Netanyahu and Major General Gil after the attacks on Gaza began on October 7, while Braverman denied the allegations. The report stated that the Israeli police are investigating claims that staff from the Prime Minister's Office used "sensitive images" belonging to a senior military official to access and alter the minutes stored in the military secretariat. So far, no suspects have been questioned in the ongoing police investigation. "THE IMAGES WERE OBTAINED FROM SECURITY CAMERAS IN THE PRIME MINISTER'S OFFICE"While Braverman's name was explicitly mentioned in the first report by Israeli state television KAN regarding the allegations, it was claimed that the so-called "sensitive images" used for blackmail were obtained from security cameras in the Prime Minister's Office, and that employees of the Prime Minister's Office were allowed to view the recordings. "A LIE FROM START TO FINISH"Rejecting the allegations, Braverman stated, "The serious claims that I possess any official's documents or attempted to blackmail someone are false. This is a lie from start to finish and aims to harm me and the Prime Minister's Office in the midst of a war." Braverman threatened to take legal action against KAN if they did not retract the report. Additionally, Braverman demanded a public apology and approximately $26,700 in compensation due to the published news. COMPLAINT TO THE GENERAL STAFF TWO MONTHS AGOIn a report aired on Israeli state television KAN on November 8, it was claimed that a complaint was made to the Israeli General Staff two months ago regarding the Prime Minister's Office holding "sensitive and personal images" of an Israeli army official. The report stated that the military official had previously worked in the Prime Minister's Office, and the complaint was made due to concerns that the images were being kept "with malicious intent." In a report by Yedioth Ahronoth on November 8, it was also stated that an investigation had been launched regarding changes allegedly made to the minutes of a cabinet meeting discussing preparations for sessions related to Israel at the International Court of Justice in The Hague. The newspaper's report from July 10 suggested that Major General Gil had informed Israeli Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara a few months ago that he was trying to alter some details in the minutes of the Prime Minister's Office. NETANYAHU'S FORMER ASSISTANT WAS DETAINEDSimultaneously, another investigation is being conducted regarding allegations that sensitive intelligence documents belonging to the Israeli army were leaked to foreign media by the Israeli Prime Minister's Office. Reports in the Israeli press indicated that the investigation was related to the unauthorized transfer, distortion, and leaking of sensitive intelligence documents belonging to the Israeli army to the media. In this investigation, five individuals, including former aides of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Eliezer Feldstein, were detained. It was understood that documents allegedly belonging to Hamas, which had been tampered with, were served to foreign media by the Prime Minister's Office to manipulate public opinion. The documents served to foreign media were published in the German Bild and the UK-based Jewish Chronicle. In a report based on the documents, the Jewish Chronicle claimed that according to documents allegedly seized by the Israeli army in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar was planning to escape with Israeli captives through Egypt. According to the report in Bild, the documents seized by Israeli forces in Gaza indicated that Hamas was planning to prolong prisoner exchanges and ceasefire negotiations as a psychological warfare tactic. Israeli media commented that the incident had caused "great concern and anger within the Israeli security establishment and was expected to escalate tensions between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, his close associates, and military officials."
