Unknown thieves in Germany stole approximately 20,000 munitions produced for the use of the German army from a transport vehicle that had stopped for a break.

A theft incident that alarmed security forces occurred in Germany. According to reports in the German media, on the night of November 25, approximately 20,000 ammunition, transported by a civilian logistics company, was stolen by unidentified thieves while the driver took a break in the Burg district near the city of Magdeburg in northern Germany.

The robbery, confirmed by the German Ministry of Defense, took place while the driver parked the truck in front of the hotel where he took a break.

THE INCIDENT CAME TO LIGHT DURING A COUNT AT THE BARRACKS

The theft was discovered the next day during a count at the barracks where the logistics company delivered the ammunition. The count revealed that approximately 20,000 ammunition, of which 10,000 were live rounds and the others were practice rounds, were missing.

LOGISTICS COMPANY FACES "NEGLIGENCE" ACCUSATIONS

The investigation launched regarding the incident revealed significant negligence on the part of the logistics company. According to the preliminary report of the investigation, it was understood that the logistics company responsible for transporting the cargo belonging to the German army neglected the security regulations in the contract, which required having two drivers during the transfer and ensuring that at least one of the drivers was observing for any issues either inside or outside the truck during breaks. It was also noted that the driver's stay at the hotel, which was located a short distance from the barracks where the delivery was to be made, was not part of normal planning.

CONCERNS ABOUT AMMUNITION FALLING INTO THE WRONG HANDS

While the German Armed Forces continue their comprehensive investigation into the incident, having found evidence suggesting that the perpetrators may have followed the truck for a long time, it was reported that intense efforts are being made to locate the stolen 20,000 ammunition.

In a statement from the German Ministry of Defense, it was expressed, "We take the theft very seriously, as this type of ammunition must not fall into the wrong hands."
