Russian tourist Maria Avdienko, who came to Istanbul for vacation, was invited by her friend to a birthday party organized by businessman A. D. at a book office in Beşiktaş. While the party was ongoing, Avdienko claimed that she was attacked by model and kickboxer Büşra Karakaş when she went to the garden to chat with A. D. Avdienko stated that she was injured after hitting her head on the tiles and filed a complaint with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Russian Maria Avdienko, who came to Istanbul for vacation, was invited to the birthday party of businessman A. D. by Nezir T., a friend she had previously met on social media. After Nezir T. picked her up from the hotel, Avdienko went to the office in Levent where the party was held.
PULLED BY HER HAIR AND PUSHED TO THE GROUND Later in the evening, A. D. allegedly called Avdienko over. Avdienko went to A. D. to congratulate him on his birthday. Due to the noisy environment at the party, A. D. suggested that the woman move to the garden. As they were about to go to the garden, A. D. started walking with model and kickboxer Büşra Karakaş, saying something to her. During this time, Büşra Karakaş, who allegedly shouted from behind, pulled Avdienko by her hair; it was claimed that A. D. smiled and pushed Avdienko.
HIT HER HEAD ON THE TILES Avdienko, who said she lost her balance and fell to the ground, hit her head on the tiles. Experiencing pain, dizziness, and nausea, Avdienko stated that while she was trying to get up, Büşra Karakaş pulled her hair once again. Avdienko was lifted from the ground by other guests at the party, and after the incident, she recorded what happened on her mobile phone. After the incident, A. D. and Büşra Karakaş went inside while Avdienko left the party with her friend.
Büşra Karakaş AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED After the incident, Maria Avdienko went to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and filed a complaint against Büşra Karakaş, who assaulted her, A. D., and company executive Mustafa C., who she claimed threatened her. It was learned that Maria Avdienko received a medical report for the assault, and the prosecutor's office initiated an investigation regarding the incident.
"HE SHOWED HE WAS INTERESTED IN ME" In her statements regarding the incident, Maria Avdienko said, "On November 18, my Instagram follower Nezir T., who is a university professor and veterinarian in Turkey, learned that I was in Turkey and invited me to meet him and attend A. D.'s birthday party. Nezir T. picked me up from my hotel in Sarıyer by car. We arrived at the office where the birthday celebration was held. In the evening, music was playing, and the guests were having fun. During this time, A. D. showed that he was interested in me. He winked at me, and I smiled back. There was a girl who had been trying to get his attention for a long time. She danced and touched him, but he clearly ignored her and looked at me. I asked Nezir T. how I should feel about such behavior since I came with him. He said that A. D. is a respected person in Turkey and that being with him is a great honor. He added that the birthday person could show interest in whoever he wanted and advised me to at least prepare a personal congratulation for him."
Maria Avdienko "SHE STARTED PULLING MY HAIR" Avdienko stated, "Around midnight, A. D. showed that I could approach him. I went up to raise a toast, and he invited me to the garden. However, before that, A. D. approached a woman named Büşra Karakaş, who was trying to get his attention, and whispered something in her ear. Then, while walking towards the garden, Büşra Karakaş suddenly started shouting and moved away. Although I didn’t understand the language, she also said something in Turkish. She came to me and held my hands. I asked her who she was and what was happening. At that moment, Büşra Karakaş grabbed my hair from behind and started pulling. I looked at A. D. for help, but he smiled and pushed me towards the bushes. At that moment, I fell and hit my head on the tiles, which caused pain in my body. After that, I started to have a headache and nausea. Since the woman continued to pull my hair in the bushes, I couldn’t get up immediately. A few seconds later, I felt like I lost consciousness and saw some people next to me. Then Büşra Karakaş let me go; they lifted me from the ground, and I took my phone and started recording."
"IT SEEMED PRE-PLANNED" Maria Avdienko said, "I was in shock, I didn’t understand what was happening and started asking what they were doing. However, Büşra Karakaş started responding by shouting in Turkish again, and they went into the office with A. D. Büşra Karakaş's behavior was humiliating. It seemed like it was pre-planned. I realized that my friend Nezir T. might not have invited me there by coincidence, and something similar might have happened before. It felt like I became a victim of a premeditated event. Other people also laughed at me. This strengthened my suspicions that what happened could be staged."
"I HAD TO LEAVE THE PLACE" Avdienko stated, "I tried to gather my belongings; later they didn’t let me into the office and told me to leave. After that, I had to leave the place, and while walking, I remembered that I had left my wallet behind. It contained about 800 dollars; I also had a shawl. While walking, I saw that Büşra Karakaş continued to have fun as if nothing had happened. I didn’t see any concern in her. I experienced a headache that lasted about 1.5 weeks. I vomited several times throughout the night due to my nausea. That night, I felt a lot of fear, stress, insecurity, and insomnia, and I had difficulty sleeping. It felt like someone was going to come to my room. I was under intense pressure from the threats of more than 10 different men who said they would file a lawsuit against me if I reported to the police."
"ANY WOMAN COULD BE IN MY PLACE" Avdienko said, "My statement has been accepted by the prosecutor, and the investigation is being conducted by the prosecutor. I believe that Turkey is a legal and democratic state. I demand that those responsible be brought to justice."
Because whether a tourist, a student, an employee, or any guest of this country, every woman could be in my place. The truth must be heard and violence must be punished," she said.
