An investigation has been launched against CHP leader Özgür Özel.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation against CHP Chairman Özgür Özel on the grounds of insulting Akın Gürlek.

"INSULTING A PUBLIC OFFICIAL"

The reason for the investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office was stated as 'insulting a public official' and 'targeting'.

"WILL BE SENT TO ANKARA FOR A DRAFT REPORT"

In a statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the following expressions were used: "An investigation has been initiated ex officio against Özgür Özel, the 28th Term Manisa Deputy and Chairman of the Republican People's Party, due to the words he directed at the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor during his party's group meeting in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on 26/11/2024 and during his press statement in front of the Marmara Penal Institutions on 29/11/2024 (today) for the crimes of Public Insult to a Public Official and Targeting Individuals Engaged in the Fight Against Terrorism. After the necessary determinations are made, the investigation documents will be sent to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the preparation of a draft report regarding the relevant parties. It is submitted to the public's information."

VISITED AHMET ÖZER IN PRISON TODAY

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had visited Ahmet Özer, who was removed from his position as the Mayor of Esenyurt after his arrest, in prison. After the visit, Özel made statements to the press, expressing his reaction to Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek.

"I WARN YOU NOT TO PLAY WITH THE FATE OF THE COUNTRY"

Özel, who said, "Akın Gürlek, you will burn as much as your crime," stated: "One day I will stand here upright again, and who knows from which social media account you will attack us. Even if you are subjected to an injustice, we will defend your rights as well. I warn you, do not play with the fate of a country, do not be an apparatus for someone."
