Turkey has administered over 108.3 million coronavirus vaccine jabs since the country launched an immunization drive in January, according to official figures released Monday.

More than 53.5 million people have received their first dose, while over 43.8 million are fully vaccinated, the Health Ministry said.

The data showed that some 86% of the country's adult population has received at least one dose of a two-shot vaccine.

Turkey has also given third booster shots to over 10.2 million people.

The ministry recorded 27,188 new coronavirus cases and 206 more fatalities over the past day.

Three suspects were arrested in southwestern Turkey for alleged links to the Daesh/ISIS terror group, police said.

Other developments

Germany's Social Democratic Party (SPD) won the most parliamentary seats in national elections while Angela Merkel's conservative CDU/CSU bloc came in second, preliminary official results showed Monday.

Meanwhile, Monday marked a year since large-scale clashes erupted in the Karabakh region last fall on Sept. 27, 2020, when the Armenian army launched attacks on civilians and Azerbaijani forces, violating several humanitarian cease-fire agreements.

Iranian trucks have been illegally entering the Karabakh region on a regular basis since before the region was liberated from Armenian occupation last fall, according to Azerbaijan's president.

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will begin official talks on Cyprus if its sovereign equality and international equal status are recognized, the nation's president said.
