Ankara's corridors are discussing this claim: The new minimum wage will be in the range of 23,000 to 25,000 TL.

While millions of minimum wage earners focus on the upcoming salary increase, attention is turned to the Minimum Wage Commission, which will convene in December. According to claims circulating in Ankara, the new minimum wage amount is expected to be in the range of 23,000 to 25,000 lira.

The minimum wage, which was 17,002 lira with a 49% increase in 2024, will be determined by the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which will convene at the beginning of December for the 2025 increase.

THE IMPACT OF THE INCREASE ON THE BUDGET IS BEING CALCULATED

The new minimum wage amount that is predominantly discussed in Ankara's corridors is expected to be between 23,000 and 25,000 lira. The biggest expectation is for a significant increase for minimum wage earners who did not receive a raise in July.

IF THERE IS AN INCREASE BASED ON THE INFLATION RATE, IT WILL BE 24,142 LIRA

The inflation rate for 2025 was projected to be 17.5% in the Medium-Term Program (OVP). However, it is not expected that this rate will be accepted by the Minimum Wage Determination Commission. If an increase is made based on the projected inflation rate of 17.5% for 2025, the minimum wage will be 19,977 lira.

IF AN INCREASE IS MADE BASED ON THE ACTUAL INFLATION RATE, IT WILL BE 24,142 LIRA

If the minimum wage is increased based on the actual inflation rate (42%), it will be 24,142 lira. If the minimum wage rises to 25,000 TL, the increase rate will be 47.04%, and if it rises to 23,000 TL, the increase will be 35.27%.

MINISTER IŞIKHAN: WE WILL NOT LET OUR CITIZENS BE CRUSHED BY INFLATION

Social Security Minister Vedat Işıkhan's statements also point to a minimum wage of 25,000 lira. In his statement, Minister Işıkhan said that minimum wage earners will not be crushed by inflation, stating, "As our esteemed President frequently expresses, we are in favor of protecting our citizens' welfare and producing permanent solutions rather than temporary ones. This will be my fundamental principle and philosophy.

Just as we followed a certain path last December, we will follow the same path this year. I desire that the wage level will be one that will not let inflation crush our citizens and will protect and enhance their purchasing power, as a citizen of the country and as a Minister," he said.
